    There is a Seoul

While eating some black mush that must’ve been a potion conjured up by the Dark Arts, I flashed back to my happy escape in Korea. It’s just a shame not knowing if you’re eating a plant or animal. Add on top of that the fear that you’re eating cursed food to cause your rational thought to shrivel up like an aged lotus root. How I miss Korea already.

Korea is like a real country. They have people who act, walk and talk like humans. It was quite a relief to get hassled and laughed at by some Korean taxi drivers standing outside the train station. We didn’t have a clue where to go and were laughed at for our ignorance. Instantly, Mike, Tim and I laughed. We all realized we had left Japan and entered a country with guts.

The stay in Pusan was alright. It was hard to find a bar that wasn’t a karaoke fronted brothel so the night life wasn’t exactly the thrill of the trip. Pusan did have an amazing fish market that miraculously didn’t smell like stinky fish even though there were octopuses and eels trying to flee from the well dressed butchers. It was almost sexy watching them skin live fish. Ok, never mind that.

Seoul rocks. The food is amazing and pretty cheap too. We had BBQ a few times and also loaded up at the tofu house for cheap spicy soup. I’ll be discharging the kimchee throughout the week. The street food was also pretty rad. Luckily I remembered what to order from having lunch and dinner with my Korean students in America. The tulkpoki from the street vendors was damn cheap and damn OISHII. I also got to see the world’s largest dog serving cotton candy (sorry no picture for that). Seoul also has plenty of Cold Stones, Dunkin’ Donuts, Krispy Kreme and Burger Kings; none of which are in Fukuoka. I haven’t been in Tokyo long enough to compare the two big cities but I’d have to say Seoul is better.
