Graduation
Spring marks a time of change and regrowth. Soon the cherry blossoms will bloom and thousands of people will be coming out to get drunk under the trees. Yesterday marked the last time many students would see each other. They had been friends since kindergarten and now find themselves on different paths. Many will attend different high schools and a few others will resume their lives of nothingness. There is a new life ahead for some students which means no more smoking outside the gym while trying to throw rocks at passers by. It means no more teasing the retard girl by pulling out your penis and shouting, “Magnum! Magnum!” So what does the future hold for these bright students? Most likely they will join some pathetic bike gang and once they get off from work at the conbini they will cruise the streets after midnight revving their engines and playing loud horrible music. Not surprisingly, it was these kids who received the most flowers for graduation. They were also the ones who arrived late because it appeared they were having their hair professionally styled. There’s nothing that shouts underachiever more than receiving flowers at a Japanese junior high school graduation.
The teachers celebrated by having one hell of an expensive drinking party after graduation. It cost me 6000 yen (little more than $50) to eat shite food and drink beer out of a dirty cup. As usual, the food consisted of inedible animal parts. One dish appeared to look good as it was a fried tempura dish. I had mistaken the bones sticking out from the fried dish as sticks to hold the food. I think I also accidentally ate one of the bones which took about twenty minutes to chew down. When I did get to the meat it was just blubbery fat.
I’m still mourning the lost of my 6000 yen.
